Small Spires
Physical approach not yet decided — light source TBD.
The 20 corner spirelets (~2.02m tall, ~0.43–0.49m base) will be illuminated as translucent cones with RGB lighting inside — glowing from within rather than wrapped in external LED strips.
Control: Universe 50, ch 1–60 — 1 addressable pixel per spirelet, all 20 in a single universe.
Candidate product: 24V WS2811 addressable pixel spotlight (ground-stake style), xConnect pigtails. Searching for 24V version of AliExpress item 3256807285483855.
Concept
- Cone or spire-shaped diffusion material (translucent, possibly acrylic or polycarbonate)
- RGB LED source(s) inside each cone
- Light diffuses through the cone wall, giving a solid glowing spire effect
- Addressable — each small spire independently controllable
Open questions
- Diffusion material — acrylic, polycarbonate, or fabric?
- LED type inside — strip, node, or dedicated fixture?
- How many per spire?
- Mounting and weatherproofing
- Cone fabrication — laser cut and rolled, injection moulded, or sourced?
Structure reference
20 corner spirelets total — 10 front, 10 back, perfectly mirrored. Two height groups per side:
- Z ~8–10m (lower, scaffold corners)
- Z ~11.9–13.9m (upper, around main spire bases)
