📦 Purchasing is complete. Everything for the build has been ordered and shipped (hardware left for the playa 2026-08-19). This page is preserved as the planning record — statuses below reflect July, not today. It reflects the v9 design (2026-07-27): no fuse blocks, no GND busbars, bucks only in the five 24 V-only boxes, QILIPSUs repurposed as the 9 power-tap pods. Lines below marked

⚠️ The power items (PSUs, fuses/distribution, floods) are a working proposal, not final — the electrical design is still to be worked out and signed off by Alex and a licensed electrician (see the Power page). Treat PSU counts/models below as provisional. The non-power items (controllers, receivers, strips, media, glands) are firm.
Working PSU proposal: 24 V = 22 (12× HLG-320H-24 = 10 main arches + 2 dedicated canopy PSUs (Y/Z, one per front tower); 10× HLG-600H-24B = 4 minor arches + 6 towers); 12 V rose PSUs all in hand + 6 small flood PSUs. Canopy on its own 320H-24 added 2026-07-21 (pending Alex). Full letters/loads: Power Map.

💡 Recommended source (priced 2026-07-22): TRC Electronics — authorized Mean Well distributor, Doylestown PA (1-day ground zone to NYC). All 3 models in stock; buy the whole set in one order. At qty: HLG-320H-24 ~$94, HLG-600H-24B ~$205 (or ~$190 at Bravo Electro), HLG-185H-12 ~$58. Full set ≈ $3,900 shipped, arrives ~1–3 business days. ⚠️ The HLG-185H-12 is backordered/long-lead at Mouser — order it from TRC or Digi-Key, not Mouser. Same-day ship needs order by 3 PM ET, Mon–Fri. Skip Amazon (Mean Well counterfeit risk).

Where each model goes (allocation detail):
- HLG-320H-24 → 14: main arches (2 per arch × 5 = 10, one at each foot) · canopy PSU-Y (FR) + PSU-Z (FL) = 2 · 2 spare.
- HLG-600H-24B → 12: minor arches 4 (one per 2–3 arches: FL 1–2, FL 3–5, FR 1–2, FR 3–5) · towers 6 (front 1 each = spire+quad; back 2 each = lower quad / spire+top quad) · 2 spare. (B = potentiometer-adjustable — not the plain A.)
- HLG-185H-12 → 6: 12 V flood/spirelet PSUs, 1 per tower (4) + 2 spare. Kept off the SR buck (bucks are 3 A, logic-only). Back-tower wash resolved 2026-07-26 (#102): 4 wash + 4 spirelets per back tower ≈ 6.6 A full white — comfortable on the 15 A unit.
- HLG-320H-12 → 2: rose window, one per SRx1 — 4 already in hand + 2 spare ordered.

Every 24 V fixture is powered from the PSU, not through the SR (the SRs run at 12 V). Each tower enclosure gets a fused 24 V bus. Full per-enclosure layout is on the Power page.
AC input plugs (PSU → generator) — 🔴 to order
Each of the 34 Mean Well HLG PSUs needs a field-wireable male 120 V plug on its AC flying leads. Screwdriver-only, no solder. Sourced 2026-07-24.

⚠️ US plugs mark terminals by metal color, not L/N/G letters: brass=Line, silver=Neutral, green=Ground. Volunteer card: brown → gold screw · blue → silver screw · green-yellow → green screw. (20 A circuits → Leviton 5366-C 5-20P instead — but only where the outlet is actually 5-20R.)
SR-box build kit — on hand vs needed (reconciled from receipts + connector DB, 2026-07-22)
Building the 15 SR boxes the first week of August. Needs counted from strands.db (the SR connector maps), on-hand from receipts.
xConnect pigtails — SR-side only, by gender. All fixtures arrive pre-terminated, so pigtails are made up only where cables leave the SR enclosures. Genders are stored in the wiring DB (strands.datain_gender) and the labels + counts derive from it. Confirmed on the bench: fixture data-in is Male (SR pigtail = Female) for every zone except spirelets + wash, which are wired in REVERSE (data-in Female → SR pigtail Male) — see flood_wash.md.

T-connectors (3-pin xConnect power tees). Arches (major 2/arch ×5 = 10, minor 1/arch ×10 = 10 = 20) + quads (4–10, per #53) = 24–30 needed. On hand 12 — 2 sample + 10 ordered 2026-07-22 (5× ALITOVE 2-pack, $15.99 ea). 🔴 Still order ~12–18 to reach 24–30. 🛒 Reorder the exact same part from Amazon order 114-9964054-3349008 (ALITOVE 3-Pin xConnect Power Injection Tee) — buy from order history to avoid picking the wrong tee.
SR enclosures — revised 2026-07-27 (v9 assemblies). 15 SR boards in 12 enclosures; the QILIPSUs turned out too small for the internals and are repurposed as the 9 power-tap pods (nothing returned).

Inside-the-box parts — revised 2026-07-27 (v9): NO distribution blocks, NO GND busbars. Every box uses per-rail WAGO 221 commons + labeled inline fuse holders (each tap gets its own holder — a WAGO never carries a whole bus, so its 20 A rating is fine; the 15 A quad taps ride 10 GA holders). Canonical interiors: the mounting-assembly sheets.

Cabling — quantities still being worked out ⏳
Cable-run lengths aren’t finalized (they depend on final SR / PSU placement on the scaffold). Three run types still to spec and order:
- Data — SR → LED (differential data to each strip & string; ≤ 5 m rule)
- Power — SR / PSU → LED (V+ / GND injection runs)
- Power — generator → PSU (AC feeds)
These get specced once placement is locked on the structure.
🔴 Rose window: center → SRx-assembly extension runs (buy 2026-07-28, ship to Hunter). All 16 petals’ data-in and far-end tails cluster at the rose center; the SRx assembly (4× SRx1 hub) mounts 4 m away (measured 2026-07-27), so every petal connection extends back to the box. Two items:
- 16× 3-pin xConnect DATA extension leads (M↔F), one per petal (~4 m each) — data + near-end V+/GND. ✅ 4 m is within the SR→first-pixel ≤ 5 m rule (no null pixel).
- 4× 12 AWG 2-conductor power trunk pairs (~4 m each, one per PSU bay) → split at the rose center into 16× 5 A branches per the #115 design (John 2026-07-28: 4 trunks, not 16 individual runs — less field build; the center-splitter stays).
